A Brazilian military truck was involved in an accident, overturned, and exploded on Thursday (7) on the BR-401 highway, at the border between Brazil and Guyana.

The vehicle was transporting cargo between the cities of Boa Vista and Bonfim, on the border of Brazil with Guyana.
The truck from the Jungle Infantry was transporting maintenance equipment when it overturned around 3 PM, injuring two soldiers. They were rescued with minor injuries and taken to the Garrison Medical Post in the state capital.
The military has stated that the cause of the accident is unclear and is under investigation. Brazil has strengthened its military presence on the northern border of the country following the escalation of tensions after Venezuela’s threat to invade the Essequibo region.
